Iconic Houses Exhibition - Sydney Apr-Aug 2014
Architecture Foundation Australia in collaboration with Karen McCartney and Sydney Living Museums has presented a fine exhibition of 'Iconic Australian Houses 1950 - 2000+' . The exhibition opened on 11 April and will run at The Museum of Sydney until 17 August. 30 iconic houses are featured including many famous Australian architects - Glenn Murcutt, Harry Seidler, Brit Andresen and Peter O'Gorman, Richard Leplastrier, Peter Stutchbury, Peter Muller, Peter McIntyre, Gabriel Poole, Robin Boyd, Sean Godsell and John Wardle. The exhibition includes scale models, photographs by Michael Wee and follows themes such as 'Responding to Nature', 'Materials and Crafstmanship', 'Experimentation : Ways of Living'. There is a specially prepared video with insightful interviews with many of the architects and house owners. This is an exhibition not only of interest to architects, but of interest to home owners, students of design, and anyone interested in culture and modern Australia. The exhibition will tour Australia to major centres and regional galleries.
