Awaroa 14 New Zealand
Nearly fifty architects from New Zealand and Australia enjoyed an 'epic' weekend at beautiful Awaroa in the Abel Tasman National Park, top left corner of the South Island of New Zealand, with New Zealand legend Ian Athfield and Australian legend Richard Leplastrier - both respectively Gold Medallists of their respective national architects institutes and seminal figures in the architecture of their countries. The Master Class was a 4 day - long weekend program that inspired participants to again draw by hand and to study place, climate and culture. Eventually working in groups of four, they prepared freehand sketch presentations on how one might accommodate extended families and small communities on precious coastal land, that would be inclusive rather than exclusive.
