September 2015, 20 senior students from Singapore Polytechnic undertook a one-week ‘Spring School’ master class at Pittwater YHA in the Ku-ring-gai National Park north of Sydney, with Australian Institute of Architects Gold Medallists Richard Leplastrier and Peter Stutchbury, with former Dean of the University of Newcastle NSW Faculty of Architecture and Design, Lindsay Johnston, leading landscape architect and architect Craig Burton and award winning NSW architect Fergus Scott. The students undertook a design project, working in groups of four, to create a ‘Place of Reflection’ in the sensitive landscape on a promontory by the water’s edge.
The Architecture Foundation Australia has presented an annual Summer School for student architects in February each year since 2005, and this was the first especially presented for visiting international students.
