Murcutt Mosque Exhibition

The exhibition 'Architecture of Faith' openedyesterday at the National Gallery of Victoria, and there was an 'in conversation' to mark the event with Glenn Murcutt and Hakan Elevli about the 12 year story of the creation of the Australian Islamic Centre in Hobsons Bay, Melbourne. Terrific exhibition, wonderful event hearing Glenn talk passionately and great detail about the evolution of the design. See story in the Melbourne Age newspaper, and great photo of Glenn on the roof among the 96 lanterns on the roof with the coloured glass. Plans for the Reunion and Conference in Melbourne 9-12 February 2017 taking shape, including a visit to the exhibition and, more importantly, the mosque. I am meeting today many of our Melbourne based alumni from the Glenn Murcutt International Master Classes and past students from the annual Student Summer School. Watch this space.
