Cave Urban, Art and Architecture, Australia

Detail 'Near Kin Kin'

Cave Urban is a Sydney based collaborative design practice. Lead Director is Nici Long, with associates Chilien architect Juan Pablo, Catalan Angel Heredia, Mexican Mercurio Alvarado, Australian Alice Nivison and Nici’s son Jed Long now also a registered architect.

Cave Urban investigates the boundary between
Art and Architecture, through research in traditional vernacular structures, Art is used to investigate and develop new contemporary designs, through temporary structures, utlising natural materials. The outcome of this
research is applied to Cave Urban’s architecture that focus‘s on exploring new aesthetics that draw upon the site and the natural environment. CU also encourages collaboration and community engagement. This creates structures that engage the community, combining vernacular principles with modern technological solutions. A broad spectrum of experience allows
the practice to draw upon 25 years of knowledge within the Australian and international Architectural industry on a range of small to large scale projects.
