Basecamp is a station of sustainable tourism and low impact for natural landscapes. It is located on a beach in the middle of the Atacam Desert. The first stage built is three fabric dome 'lodges' and a service centre. The camp provides facilities for visiting holiday makers, who may stay in the domes or bring their own tents or caravans.

The project is located on the coast of the Atacama desert, south of Barranquillas.

The commission required a low impact tourism facility that allowed the enjoyment of the natural surroundings without producing degradation, which included elementary services for travellers: water, bathrooms, energy supplies and shelter. The constructive strategy was to conceive a subtle intervention in the land, without concrete foundations that could cause irreversible damage to nature, and included an in-depth study to evaluate the integration of Tarbush reeds in the project - a type of local bush that grows in the zone´s wetlands that was used for decades to construct fences and to reinforce sun-dried brick walls.
