Overview
This is a short weekend Masterclass for younger architects, at affordable cost, with seminal and award winning architects. A chance to reinvigorate your career and collaborate with a ‘master’ such as Richard Leplastrier, with some other really exciting award winning architects – in the amazingly beautiful setting of Morning Bay, where both Richard and Peter Stutchbury live and work.
The program will include visits to the 2012 Wilkinson Award winning Cliff Face House at Palm Beach designed by Peter Stutchbury and Fergus Scott in association, to Richard Lelastrier’s amazing home at Lovett Bay and to Peter Stutchbury’s office in Newport.
This weekend program is similar in format to previous Masterclasses and the Architecture Summer School, but presented as a short version to keep the cost down and fit in with work commitments. The program will include walking the landscape – to observe – accompanied by freehand sketching followed by a brief studio based design ‘charette‘, undertaken in small groups, for a project (yet to be determined), on a site within walking distance of the venue. The design program will be supported by talks from the ‘masters’ and on-going tutorial support during the weekend.
The program includes accommodation (4-6 share bunk rooms at the YHA), meals, possibly excluding lunches on site visits. The tutors will share the weekend with the group, will eat at the Youth Hostel. The program will culminate in presentations and crits on the last morning.
